Jury duty over

And justice prevailed. The defendent did plead guilty and we were dismissed. You could see the defense attorney could see what way the balances of justice were going. And now the defendent will serve one life sentence with maybe a possibility of parole instead of two life sentences and a few more years. With no parole. So he was "smart" to make a deal. But the sadness is that the whole thing, which could have been avoided if the defendent had just driven away instead of hitting two people. How many lives are affected by his actions that night. His victims lives changed forever with the injuries they suffered and his own family has devastated. Just very sad.
We were all sorry that we didn't get to deliberate. But who knows, we could get called again this month.
